With October just around the corner, spooky season is upon us! My favourite time of year for making.

I love how creative I can get in bringing spooky season to life.

Always on the cute side, never scary, I hope to bring some spooky characters to life.

My upcoming online sale will have plenty of pumpkins, ghosts and woodland makes. Sunday 28th September, 6pm!

Spooky season is here…

Pinching is one of the simplest hand-building techniques. This method has been used since ancient times to make pottery.

By pinching a ball of clay into a shape using thumb and fingers, functional and ornamental pottery can be made.

To make larger items, pinching can be used alongside other methods, such as coiling.

One of the first things most people make with clay is a small pinch pot. Its the first thing I made years ago and its only recently that I have returned to this method. I find the process of pinching very therapeutic and I love the organic shapes and textures it creates.
